Good Content Creators
Content creators I like to watch who produce actually well-made and thoughtful videos that are more than just entertainment.
Shameless Nerd
Channel Link
I would describe Shameless Nerd as a self-improvement channel, but it's much more than that. Reid, the guy who runs the channel, makes videos on a wide range of topics. He's made videos about music, pokemon, philosophy, and more, but he consistently uploads videos about reducing unhealthy use of electronics and rejecting convenience in order to live a more fulfilling life. Another thing I really like about his channel is his unique approach to video structure. Every video he makes ends with a "post-video video," a section lasting just a few minutes about whatever topic he wants to talk about. I just really like the positive vibe of his channel, even when dealing with darker topics, and his videos on healthy electronics usage has one hundred percent had a positive effect on me. As of writing this, he has 30.1k subs, but I really hope he gets the attention he deserves in the future.
The Enemies Project
Channel Link
This is without a doubt one of the most brilliant channels on YouTube at the moment. The premise of each episode is that two people, who at a protest or over social media would likely be at each other's throats, are sat down in a room with a moderator who tries to take these "enemies" and make them friends with each other. The format is incredibly unique and feels like what many of the X viewpoint vs. Y viewpoint videos on YouTube should be instead. This channel has helped to change my views on certain issues, but most importantly, I feel like it has made me more empathetic and has given me a wholly different approach for resolving disagreements. In a world where it seems that so many are ready to fight people whom they think aren't on their side, a channel that actually promotes empathy and understanding is as a diamond is in a landfill.
Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan
Channel Link
Channel 5 is probably my new favorite YouTube channel as of writing. Channel 5 specializes in longer-form videos where Andrew Callaghan and/or his associates will interview people at protests, on the streets, or occasionally in their homes and will just let them talk about their political views and life experiences. Though all media has a bias, Callaghan is known for not saying "no" to people, instead just nodding his head and letting them talk. His reporting is incredibly objective for a YouTube channel, not to mention for a media organization. You can watch a Channel 5 video covering people whose beliefs are diametrically opposed to your own worldview and expect to hate them, but instead feel empathy for them, even if you disagree with their beliefs.
